Professional Bull Riders Canada’s Elite Cup Series Returns to Lethbridge for Seventh Consecutive Season on February 28-March 1, 2025
LETHBRIDGE, Alta. (November 12, 2024) – For the seventh consecutive season, PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada’s elite Cup Series will travel to Lethbridge, Alberta, taking over VisitLethbridge.com Arena on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1 for the PBR South Country Co-op Showdown.
PBR Canada’s Cup Series regularly features Canada’s best riders alongside some of the organization’s top international athletes, squaring off against the rankest bucking bulls from across the nation.
For two nights only, fans will witness exhilarating 8-second rides and wrecks throughout the unpredictable, action-packed event as the PBR’s courageous bull-riding athletes face off against their 2,000-pound opponents born to buck.
The PBR South Country Co-op Showdown will mark the second event of the 2025 regular season for PBR Canada’s premier Cup Series.
When the Cup Series last travelled to Lethbridge in March 2024, 2022 PBR Canada Champion Nick Tetz (Calgary, Alberta) showed up and showed out, going a perfect 3-for-3 to win the event. Tetz has now won each of the four Cup Series events held in Lethbridge since 2022.
Marking his debut on Canadian soil in 2024, Tetz, who rides for the Arizona Ridge Riders in the separate PBR Teams league, first put points on the board in Round 1 when he bested Lord Fear (Vold Rodeo) for 79 points. Tetz then climbed the leaderboard in Round 2 when he topped Irish Car Bomb (Wilson Rodeo) for 85 points.
In the championship round bull draft, Tetz elected to go head-to-head with Grand Funk (Kinky Buckers). In a decision which proved dividends, Tetz remained in perfect time with the powerful animal athlete, reaching the requisite 8 with ease. Marked an event-best 89 points, the ride clinched the event win for Tetz.
The golden finish garnered Tetz a crucial 130 national points. He rose from unranked to No. 4 in the race for the 2024 PBR Canada Championship and accompanying $100,000 bonus, inching within 186.5 points of then No. 1 Cody Coverchuk (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan).
Other past PBR Canada Cup Series event winners in Lethbridge are: Tetz (2023 & 2022 – Calgary, Alberta); Zane Lambert (2021 – Ponoka, Alberta); Garret Green (2020 – Meeting Creek, Alberta); Brock Radford (2020 – De Winton, Alberta); Ty Ellis (2020 – Sonningdale, Saskatchewan); Dakota Buttar (2020 – Eatonia, Saskatchewan) and Jared Parsonage (2019 – Maple Creek, Saskatchewan).
The bull riding action for PBR Canada Cup Series’ South Country Co-op Showdown begins at 7:00 p.m. MT on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1.
Tickets for the event go on sale Friday, November 15 at 10:00 a.m. MT. They can be purchased online at VisitLethbridgeArena.ca, or charge by phone at (403) 329-7328.
